Maggie’s London Night Hike, on Friday, September 16 and now in its seventh year, offers walkers the chance to see the capital by night by taking part in a 10 or a 20 mile course. Some of the Capital’s most striking buildings will be open for the first time to host refreshments and entertainment including gospel choirs, artists and a massage along the route. There will be a host of celebrities taking part in the walk. Buildings which will be open for hikers include Leadenhall Market, City Hall, Southbank Centre, Royal Geographical Society, Maggie’s London, Royal Institute of British Architects, Horse Guards and 20 Gresham Street, but more are yet to be confirmed.

For the first time this year 10 and 20 mile hikers will be able to walk together, allowing friends, family and colleagues of differing abilities to walk together for the first 10 miles. Last year brave hikers raised more than £700,000 and to date more than 6,000 hikers have raised nearly £3m to help fund a network of Maggie’s Centres across the UK.

Maggie’s, which has 15 centres either built or in development across the UK, provides emotional and practical support for anyone affected by cancer. Residential Land helped support the building of the Maggie’s Centre in West London in 2008 which has been hugely successful in helping thousands of people in London cope with the trauma and isolation of a cancer diagnosis.

The Maggie’s London Night Hike is in partnership with Open House London and launches the Open House London Weekend (September 17-18).

Walkers can register for the event by visiting http://www.maggiescentres.org/londonnighthike or calling 0300 123 1801. The staggered start times begin at 7.30pm.
