London’s best international schools

Find a top education in the capital’s most prestigious areas

Many of our tenants chose to rent from us to be close to one of London’s schools.  Our tenants range from international students studying at one of London’s leading business schools, to a family looking for a prestigious primary school for their young children.

London has some of the best international schools in the world, and, if you live in these prime locations, many of them are practically on your doorstep.

Southbank International School

Spread across three sites in some of the prettiest parts of central and west London, Southbank International School offers a complete International Baccalaureate (IB) programme for children from the ages of 3 to 18. With 60 different nationalities studying across its campuses, Southbank could well lay claim to being London’s most international school. Despite not having entrance exams, it boasts an excellent academic record, with last year’s graduating class achieving an average of 34.8 in the IB diploma. All three campuses are in prime residential locations, minutes from prominent London sights like Hyde Park and Oxford Street, and easily reached on the tube.

The American School in London

The American School’s modern campus is situated on a leafy residential street just a few minutes from St John’s Wood tube station. The school follows an American curriculum but encourages its students, aged 4 to 18, to fully immerse themselves in the capital’s cultural goings-on. It is incredibly well-equipped, with 1,300 computers and a 35,000-volume library. While most of its students are American, 45 nations are represented at the school, and a third of pupils are citizens of multiple countries. The location is prestigious, and the surrounding streets hold some of London’s most celebrated attractions; Abbey Road studios and Lord’s cricket ground are both minutes away.

International Community School

Both sites of the International Community School (ICS) are easily reached from Hampstead, Kensington or Chelsea – thanks in part to the door-to-door bus service the school offers. Founded in 1979 by the Toettcher family (who are still involved in running the school) the ICS teaches the IB to children aged 3 to 18 across two campuses in north-west London. Although the secondary school is minutes from Regent’s Park – famously home to London Zoo – children also have the chance to get up close and personal with Britain’s wildlife at the educational centre the school owns in Bawdsey, Suffolk. Students spend at least one week a year at the centre, known as the school’s ‘Outdoor Classroom’.

Hill House International Junior School

Made up of several historic houses in quiet Belgravia, just down the road from Knightsbridge, Hill House International Junior School offers the capital’s children, aged 4 to 13, a unique primary education. It follows a British curriculum but is very much an international school – not least because the school’s property portfolio extends well beyond its Victorian townhouses. Hill House also owns what it describes as an ‘annex’ in Glion, Switzerland, where students go to do courses in art, music, and skiing. The unusual uniform (a golden jumper and shin-length, rust-coloured cords) may appear eccentric, but the school has a sound academic record and an impressive reputation among London’s globe-trotting parents.

International School of London

Just west of Chiswick, on the border of Gunnersbury Park, is the International School of London (ISL). The modestly-sized school offers a complete IB programme to children aged 2 to 18, and is particularly strong on language-learning: all pupils are required to study their mother tongue as well as English, and most older students will study three languages. It has an excellent academic record (last year the average IB diploma score was 31) but it also has a strong extra-curricular programme – there are even clubs for the school’s parents. Nearby Chiswick is very popular with families, and unsurprisingly; it offers a range of different properties, from mansion flats to detached Georgian houses, and some of the most picturesque riverside walks in London.
