Electrifying explosives at Battersea Park’s ‘Ignite the Night’

(Queenstown Road and Clapham Junction)

A post shared by Chris Field (@chris_field1) on

The fireworks at Battersea Park are the best south of the river. Hosting 50,000 people, it’s hard to believe that tickets sell out in advance – but they do, so be sure to book online to avoid disappointment. Children under 10 go free, making this event ideal for the family. Open from 6pm, a huge bonfire will be lit at 7.30pm before the fireworks begin at 8. The theme for this year’s show is ‘power’ which is no doubt a homage to Battersea’s iconic power station, designed by the same architect who dreamt up the bright red telephone box Sir Giles Gilbert Scott. Food and drink stalls will be open and offering tasty treats.

Saturday 4th November

Make a night of it at Duke’s Meadow

(Chiswick)

Duke’s Meadow golf club opens its grounds to host their annual fireworks display. This is a slightly smaller event – a welcome escape from the crowds. Especially for families with younger children – a family ticket at £27.50 will provide for 2 adults and 2 children. Live music from Jamestown promises beloved classics catering for all tastes – from Dolly Parton to Guns N’ Roses. In addition to live music, guests are welcome to feast upon the food and drinks on offer – including a barbecue. Doors open at 4.30pm, fireworks from 7.30pm.

Community charm at Ealing Cricket Club

(Ealing)

A post shared by Vicki Ryan (@vickiemma01) on

Every year Ealing Cricket Club hosts a bonfire night celebration to raise funds for the cricket club. The theme this year is ‘Classical’ and the cricket club will present a laser show and fireworks display set to music including Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake and Elgar’s Land of Hope and Glory. With fairground rides, candy floss, barbecues and mulled wine this event has something for everyone. Buy tickets on the door – £8 for adults, £5 for children (but aged 5 and below go free!) – and be content in the knowledge that your quid goes towards funding sport in the community.

Saturday 4th November

The main event: Alexandra Palace

(Wood Green or Muswell Hill)

A post shared by Markel Zurita (@markelzurita) on

Fireworks at Ally Pally attract hoards of Londoners every year. ‘The People’s Palace’ marked its inauguration in 1873 with a firework celebration commemorating Queen Victoria’s birthday – and though it burned down only 16 days later, it was rebuilt in 2 years time. Lasers start beaming at 8.30pm and the first rockets launch at 9. The fireworks display will be set to a bespoke mixtape by DJ Yoda – the rogue DJ who makes remixes featuring snippets of dialogue from cult film and TV classics He was even hired by BBC Radio 4 to reimagine the Archers and the shipping forecast as floor-filling tunes. Plus, a traditional Bavarian Bierkeller preserves the Oktoberfest zeitgeist with steins on sale from 5pm on Friday and 4pm Saturday, and street food will be available from some of London’s favourite vendors. As if that’s not enough, there is also a ‘March of the Phoenix’-themed parade, ice skating and an immense bonfire.
