A weekend in Fulham offers up countless opportunities for glorious views, marvellous meals and invigorating activities. But there’s no better place to start and end your day than at Palace Wharf – our brand new riverside property development.

With that in mind, we’ve put together an itinerary for a jam-packed Saturday in Fulham and its surrounding areas, taking you from first thing in the morning all the way up to a fantastic night out. For the full experience, imagine waking up at Palace Wharf…

07:00 – Sunrise over the river

Outside your front door

Roll out of bed, get dressed and brew up a coffee. Bring it outside and you’ll find your early rise rewarded with an amazing view of Hammersmith Bridge and the Thames from your very own doorstep – a golden light spreads across the capital and bathes you in warmth as the sun rolls over the horizon.

Pop your mug back inside, lock up and head 10 minutes down the road on the Thames path until you get to…

08:00 – breakfast at Cafe Plum

17 Crisp Rd, London W6 9RL

An unpretentious local cafe with hearty breakfasts that are a considerable cut above the usual – using only ingredients from local suppliers, all dishes are sold on the day they’re made in order to guarantee freshness. This branch of Cafe Plum is one of three in the Hammersmith and Fulham area, and will make fuelling up for the day ahead an absolute delight.

Now you’re ready to head over Hammersmith Bridge and – less than half an hour later – arrive at…

09:30 – wildlife oasis at the WWT London Wetland Centre

Queen Elizabeth’s Walk, Barnes, London SW13 9WT

Beat the crowds by arriving just as the London Wetland Centre opens – you’ll find 100 acres of lush vegetation teeming with wildlife and entirely devoid of people. Voted Britain’s Favourite Nature Reserve in the 2012 BBC Countryfile Magazine Awards, the site is comprised of four disused Victorian reservoirs that have been tucked into a loop in the Thames.

You could easily spend an entire day here, spotting otters, parakeets, herons and kingfishers – but today you have just three hours, until you wander 24 minutes down the road to…

13:00 – lunch at the Duke’s Head

8 Lower Richmond Rd, London SW15 1JN

The Duke’s Head is an upmarket gastropub in a Grade II listed building that dates back to 1864. With breathtaking views of the river, it’s no wonder that hundreds flock here to watch the start of the boat race every year. And the food – like the views – is magnificent.

You’ll even be able to see your next stop on the other side of the river, a 15 minute walk away.

14:30 – stroll around Fulham Palace

Bishop’s Ave, Fulham, London SW6 6EA

The jewel in Fulham’s crown, Fulham Palace is a stately home nestled in grounds that retained a single purpose for the best part of thirteen thousand years. Used as a home for bishops from the 11th century until 1973, the Grade I listed palace is surrounded by botanic gardens which will imbue contemplative walks with natural beauty at any time of year.

Take a 12-minute stroll to your next destination through the verdant surroundings of the adjacent – and appropriately-named – Bishop’s Park.

16:00 – afternoon arts and crafts at Token Studio

694 Fulham Rd, Fulham, London SW6 5SA

Token Studio was opened by an interior designer with a background in architecture, and has since become a hub that connects artists, designers and musicians – many of whom run interactive workshops in their various areas of expertise.

Two of the most popular classes involve making organic soap and bath bombs, but there are lessons covering everything from macrame and watercolours to architectural drawing and guitar lessons.

Whatever you do, you’ll be walking away with a new skill or handcrafted item as you wend your way – over the course of 15 minutes – down to…

18:00 – Alexander von Westenholz’s cabinet of curiosities

297 Lillie Rd, Fulham, London SW6 7LL

A testament to true eccentricity, you would be remiss not to stop in at Alexander von Westenholz’s antiques and taxidermy boutique. Whether you’re after a 19th century occasional table, a large ceramic tiger, or a pair of leather book stands adorned with genuine bull’s hooves, von Westenholz is sure to have just the thing to surprise and astonish.

Something to think about on the 13 minute walk to…

19:00 – fine dining at the famous River Cafe

Thames Wharf, Rainville Rd, London W6 9HA

What better way to end your day (or start your evening) than with a meal at the renowned River Cafe. This Michelin-starred restaurant was opened by chefs Ruth Rogers and Rose Gray and recently celebrated its 30th anniversary – marking three decades of producing impeccable food in a kitchen that has trained the likes of Jamie Oliver and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall. You won’t fail to notice the giant, red wood-fired oven that draws the eye regardless of where you’re seated in the sleekly cavernous dining room.

After that, you may be ready for bed – in which case Palace Wharf residents are lucky enough to live on the same street as River Cafe, so they can saunter two minutes down the road to their front door.

Alternatively, hop in a cab and tell the driver to take you to…

(OPTIONAL NIGHTCAP) 22:00 – The Cellar

461 North End Rd, Fulham, London SW6 1NZ

A post shared by HangerSW6 (@hanger_sw6) on

A brand new basement cocktail bar beneath Hanger steak restaurant, The Cellar has a warm wood and leather interior that screams 70s chic, and is the perfect place to work your way through a bespoke cocktail menu that earned this hidden nightspot the title of Bar of the Week in an April 2017 issue of Time Out.
